Summer reading time. The first book: Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger, who is apparently some sort of an insane recluse. (Teachers are awful predictable, aren't they.) The instructions I received tell me to write a "reading response" after every thirty pages. Alright, you can follow along at home. Enjoy!
According to the instructions, "In the Upper School, students write reading responses as part of their nightly homework." What exactly is a reading response? Is it one of these new progressive education devices? Apparently not. It is "designed to help you become a more careful and reflective reader," and is a "tool for learning and discovering what you think and feel." Good thing we have teachers to help us discover how we think and feel. Don't know what I'd do without them. (Sarcasm) "I am interested in hearing about your opinions, thoughts, feelings and reactions." Wow! There's someone there. And they really care about me (or at least pretend to). Quick! Call the Cluetrain.
Alright, enough fun. Time to get down to the work at hand. It might be some interesting reading -- I'm always awfully snarky at the beginning of school (it takes a while for summer to wear off). Then again, it's most likely dreadfully boring (sadly, like most schoolwork these days) and won't make much sense unless you've read the book. Whatever, I'll let you decide for yourself.
