Dear School,

As of late school's demands have become too much for me. The pressure from all the work I am asked to complete is beginning to bear too much. I feel that all of this work is unhealthy, unwise and incorrect.

I have decided to take a short sabbatical from school. I wish to spend more time with my family, pursue my interests and take up my hobbies. Most importantly, I have been honored by being given an important position on a key technical project that could have vast implications for the way we use the Web and the way we conduct our lives.

I feel that your educational system is not assisting me in my growth and educational ability. Instead, I feel that it is stunting this ability and preventing me from doing what I need to develop myself and my skills. Worse, it isn't allowing me to work on this project which will not only be of enormous value to myself but also, perhaps, to the rest of the world.

So, while I may be required to continue attending classes, I will spend a decreased amount of time on my homework to focus on my other priorities. While this may harm my grades, I feel that such a tradeoff is necessary to continue my educational progress.

I have weighed the various options and in the end I have decided that this choice is best for me. I hope that you can see that too.

Sincerely,

Aaron Swartz
