Ms. Snellman, the replacement sociology TA I have today, is very cute and funny and engaging. Its quite a contrast from my usual sociology TA, who made me afraid to even raise my hand. Also, Snellman’s room seems bright and full of sunshine, up on the top floor of the building. The other TA’s room was dark and felt like an underground cave, down in the basement. I think my sociology professor is right; the other TA projects her own fear of failing on the class. It’s impressive how such subtle cues have such huge effects on my behavior; it might be interesting to research.

Competition is fierce: a large full-color glossy poster advertises an intro course, Earth Systems 10, to students. This is the first time I’ve seen ads for a course.
