A collection of interesting things we’ve seen:
On nearly every street corner here there is a woman in a fluffy white coat giving out Yahoo! BB Phone boxes. Apparently the deal is for $35/mo. you get 12Mbps ADSL along and VOIP service. The DSL modem doubles as a VOIP box so you can use your normal phone to make phone calls over the Internet. I think it’s pretty cool to see such a major campaign with VOIP service.
At a mall we visited they had a couple crane games — the usual children’s thing where you position a crane and have it attempt to pick something up. But they also had one where you tried to pick up live lobsters from a tank! I swear this country actually exists somewhere in Cory Doctorow’s brain.
