Fleep is an absolutely genius 42-part serial comic from Jason Shiga. Now I read some comics (mainly This Modern World, Tom the Dancing Bug, and Morning Improv) but this is the first time I’ve seen a serial comic that’s really worked.

Our Hero finds himself trapped a phone booth, surrounded concrete, with only what he has on him. Can he escape before oxygen runs out? Watch as he solves daring math problems and makes brave phone calls in an attempt to survive. Genius! (My only complaint is that the ending comes too quickly and is unfulfilling.)

Read Fleep now. (Shiga’s original presentation doesn’t really work in my browser, so I reformatted it as a normal web page.)

Also: Our Hero, or someone very much like him, stars in Shiga’s previous strip: Bus Stop
