Apple Expo, Paris: Apple Announces Mac OS X-Only Booting For 2003. “Apple today announced that starting in January 2003, all new Mac models will only boot into Mac OS X as the start-up operating system, though they will retain the ability to run most Mac OS 9 applications through Apple’s bundled ‘Classic’ software.”

Other expo news: iCal released, Philips, Canon, Xerox, Sybase and World Book announced support for Rendezvous.

Stevenote: “Mac OS X v10.2 is a whole new Mac for only £99,” laughed Jobs. (The joke is that Mac OS 8 was billed as a whole new Mac for only $99.)

Apple Admin Utility for Windows is “an unsupported development version of the AirPort Base Station and AirPort network administration tool.”
